Foundry publishes a range of styles and forms, from short lyric poems to prose poems and longer narratives. We are drawn to poems that feel as much as they think.
We are committed to inclusivity and warmly welcome submissions from marginalized voices. We will not consider work with sexist, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, or able-ist content.
Please submit 3-5 original, previously unpublished poems through Submittable. All poems should be included in a single .DOC/.DOCX or PDF file with one poem per page (eight pages maximum). Use a standard font. Enter a cover letter with a brief third-person bio in the space provided by Submittable. We are not open for art submissions at this time.
We read year-round and publish new issues in September, December, March, and June. We strive to respond within sixty days but may take longer. Please wait to query until four months have passed. Submissions are free, although we occasionally offer the option of making a small contribution and receiving an expedited response.
Simultaneous submissions are encouraged. If a poem is accepted elsewhere, just add a note in the Activity tab in Submittable. Please do not send more than one submission every three months.
Foundry acquires First North American Serial rights and the right to archive your work online in perpetuity. If your work is subsequently published elsewhere, please mention that it first appeared in the journal. Past contributors should wait one year from the date of publication to submit again.
We pay $10 per poem via Venmo shortly after publication. We also promote our authors on social media and submit nominations for prizes.
